Africa House London organised a judicial scoping visit to Nigeria to discuss training the judiciary and ensuring best practice in common rule of law throughout the Federal Capital Territory. Africa House London was gratefully hosted by the governor of Sokoto State, His Excellency Aminu Tambuaala. In attendance was the UK judicial team and Helen Grant MP.

Having the governor of Sokoto State host the delegation alongside the UK judicial team and Helen Grant MP suggests this was more than a symbolic gesture. What stood out to me is how much of this work depends on sustained follow-up, because a single scoping visit can open doors but the real test is whether the training actually reaches courts outside Abuja.
